My kids are dressed by Maxipes Fík. The expedition without tears

When we were leave to go out to the park in the winter, the entire house has to know. My kids are convinced of it because they are able to start such a racket when we start getting dressed, that they cannot be ignored. You can explain certain things to Kryštof – he will now be three years old, but Eliška still cannot fully understand why she should let herself be dressed in endless layers of clothing when she leaves the home. She aptly displays this by crying as much as she can….. More precisely she cried. For, today, yesterday and the day before that, they were silent as the grave.

The only thing audible was my voice. Eliška is now 13 months old. I don’t know how it happened, but I started telling a story about her favourite episode of Maxipes Fík—how he was born. Her ears perked up so she wouldn’t miss a single letter. Eli loves the tales of Maxipes Fík in all formats – fold-out book, DVD, LPC…

In hindsight, I remember that when dressing Kryštof we used to give him a bottle of milk and later tell him stories of all sorts of things. But it had the disadvantage in that you had to come up with something new. A well-known story is obviously less demanding.

The essence is in mentally clogging him with a different topic than dressing, then they will let anything put on them :-)
